Maria Wilson Holmes is the Director of Community Impact of the Comcast Heartland Region and has been an employee in the cable industry for over 37 years in three career fields; video production, government affairs, and corporate social responsibility.

As a graduate of Eastern Michigan University in the field of Communications, Maria began with managing cable television studios and worked in community relations for more than 15 years where she covered historic events. Following her career in programming, as a government affairs manager for more than 10 years, Maria negotiated contracts, facilitated compliance tracking and representing Comcast to more than 50 local government agencies.
Maria currently oversees community impact programs such as national and local outreach initiatives, employee engagement and philanthropic programs. Maria and her team work diligently with hundreds of non-profit organizations to cultivate, facilitate, and manage relationships as well as create, develop, expedite and track programs and sponsorships.

Having previously served as a NAMIC-Detroit founding Chapter Advisor, Maria is now the President of the Detroit chapter of NAMIC.   She is also on the board of the  Great Lakes Chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) for more than 25 years having served as Vice President and President as well as the chair of many committees. Maria is an appointee of Governor Whitmer serving on the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) and she is a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters Metropolitan Detroit (BBBSMD).  She has served as an executive board member, advisor, committee chair and president for numerous organizations over the years including Washtenaw Literacy, Livingston Diversity Council, Plymouth United Way and Habitat for Humanity of Macomb County. Maria has been professionally recognized with various awards including ATHENA, Carla Laufer (WICT), Know Your Value and numerous video production and industry awards. Her leadership has resulted in several company awards and recognitions such as the Governor’s Service Award and United Way service award.  Maria is valued by her co-works and is sought out for her experience and counsel.

Maria and her husband of over 42 years are parents of three adult children. They love to spend time with their family including their granddaughter. Maria and her husband are deacons at Abundant Harvest Church of Belleville where they serve together in ministry on the finance, compassion and administration teams. Maria is passionate about serving others. Maria is inspired by her parents who taught her service above self; she is determined to do the same – to leave a legacy of honor, care, compassion and excellence in leadership.
