National NAMIC President Gives Statement on Current Affairs: Social Justice

George Floyd Statement by Shuanise Washington Like you, I am deeply saddened by the racially charged incidents around our country and George Floyd’s death. George Floyd’s killing has affected and impacted communities throughout our nation. This senseless tragedy reinforces the need for greater diversity and inclusion in our communities and workplaces. And it reaffirms NAMIC’s mission and further strengthens our resolve and determination to keep pressing forward.   We will continue to work to develop and nurture diverse leaders who can help change our world and make it a better place for all citizens. It’s what we have done in the cable and communications industries for 40 years, and it’s more important now than ever.   I also encourage everyone to visit the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, which just launched Talking About Race, a new online portal designed to help individuals, families, and communities talk about racism, racial identity, and the way these forces shape every aspect of society, from the economy to the workplace.   I offer my sincerest wishes of peace and wellness to our NAMIC family and extended community. We will get through this together.

We’re on a mission to educate, advocate and empower for multi-ethnic diversity in the communications industry
